New Study Indicates that Internet Users Are More Passive in 2011

Feb 2, 2011

Web 2.0 is a thing of the past, and a new study indicates that people just aren’t as interactive as they once were when it comes to websites. The report from GlobalWebIndex states that the use of non-browser services, along with social media, has seriously affected the way people interact online.

The report shows that social media is actually more about content sharing than content creation, but not all agree. ReadWriteWeb responded that people are still interacting, but they are doing it through Facebook, or commenting on a news piece, or engaging in a discussion forum.

Some believe that consumers are still creating content, but they are doing it through new mediums and new devices, in different ways. Rather than moving back to a professional mode, they are using the new tools of the web.
