Content Farms, SEO and Google: What You Need To Know

Google recently announced that it would be actively making an effort to reduce spam from its rankings–and will push to focus on spam created by content farms. What spam are they referring to, and how will it affect SEO?


Although there is no “official” word from Google on the exact definition of content spam, it has been defined as content that is found on scraper sites, sites which scrape content from other sites around the web, as well as the content that is created by large and mid-sized content farms. These farms create thousands of pages of content each day, ranging from tutorials, to recipes, to sites that are focused on specific keywords, all with the goal of attracting traffic and advertising to that traffic.
