KRACK Vulnerability Could Affect Most WiFi Devices

Security researchers are warning about several vulnerabilities in the WPA2 protocol, which is used to secure WiFi traffic. The vulnerability enables Key Reinstallation Attacks, which are being called KRACK attacks for short. “The weaknesses are in the Wi-Fi standard itself, and not in individual products or implementations,” one of the researchers wrote. “Therefore, any correct implementation of WPA2 is likely affected.”

Several vendors have already begun updating their products to patch the vulnerabilities. However, it is possible that a very high percentage of devices that have WiFi capabilities could be affected by the bug.
