Many developers have at some point used an emulator to play the old school games that stores no longer sell. One such developer is currently working on a Game Boy emulator–using nothing but JavaScript and HTML5.
Imran Nazar, the man behind the marvel, is working on the emulator to show how far JavaScript has come, and what can be done with HTML5’s canvas tag. Thus far Nazar’s gotten the emulator to work with the old Tetris game, although it’s still a bit clunky, and not ready for prime time.
This could open some fun possibilities, such as web-based versions of old Nintendo games, or a potential copyright war–if Nintendo isn’t the one to release such an emulator.
