Google Gets Into Mobile App Development Space

This week it Google announced that according to analysts, its Android mobile operating system dominated the smartphone market in Q4 2010. Now Google has begun to hire app developers in order to dominate the app space across different platforms as well.

Previously, Google felt that it could corner the market through the use of Google products and services that were available via web browsers on mobile devices. Now Google has decided that app development will occur worldwide, using small groups of developers, and it will even include new areas such as gaming.

Benjamin Ling, a product-management director for Google, is leading the recruitment effort of those developers. This means native Google apps are coming, and Microsoft is certain to take note, as its an area that they are already quite familiar with.
