Mozilla has released a new update for its Firefox browser, and the company says Firefox 54 is much faster than Chrome but doesn't hog memory like the Google browser. In order to better handle content in multiple open tabs, Firefox 54 creates four different processes. By contrast, Chrome creates different processes for each tab open, which requires a lot of memory

Firefox 54 also uses the Electrolysis engine, codenamed E10S. It is said to improve the browser's handling of modern websites. Upcoming updates will feature an engine optimization known as Quantum that will make better use of multi-core CPUs and GPUs.
