Prototype 1.7 was originally released in November 2010 at which time the lead developer outlined his teams plans to release a bug fix release, 1.7.0.1, which would rewrite the DOM code making it easier to read and faster to use. They also announce at that time, a planned minor release, 1.7.1 intended to address ECMAScript 5 compatibility issues. Some 20 months or so later, WHA-LA, Version 1.7.1 is here and it has both releases bundled together. Check out all the other features and fixes included in this release and do the download here.
