Verizon has announced that after it completes its acquisition of Yahoo, it will merge Yahoo with AOL, and the two Web giants will be known by a new name: Oath. AOL CEO Tim Armstrong tweeted, “Billion+ Consumers, 20+ Brands, Unstoppable Team. #TakeTheOath. Summer 2017.”
Recode is reporting that Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer will not be working at Oath. Instead, it appears AOL CEO Tim Armstrong will be in charge.
Many bloggers and news outlets have been quick to mock the new company name, which does not seem to be very popular.
