Google has unveiled a new Mobile Sites certification program designed to allow Web developers to demonstrate their mobile expertise. “We know that a lot of Web developers are doing great work on mobile sites — this certification is a way of promoting them to a wider audience,” blogged Google’s Chris Hohorst. “Being certified means being recognized by Google as an expert in mobile site optimization, which will make you more accessible and attractive to potential clients looking for a good match for those services.”
To achieve the certification, developers will need to score an 80 percent on a 65-question online exam that lasts 90 minutes. It covers mobile site design, mobile UX best practices, speed optimization and advanced Web technologies. Google also published a study guide for the exam.
