Annual HTML5 Wish List Announced by Sencha

This week Sencha announced its HTML5 wish list for 2012, along with details on those wishes that came true from last year’s HTML5 wish list. Among those wish list items that came true were high-performance ‘position: fixed’ for mobile, a richer CSS3 effects toolbox, websockets stabilization and pervasive GPU acceleration.

The co-chair of the Web Education Community Group, Chris Mills, discussed the wish list for 2012, stating that it “seems to be implying CSS3 is a part of HTML5, which is rather confusing”. He added that anyone calling for better mobile debugging should check out Opera Dragonfly, “which has had decent mobile debugging capabilities for a while, albeit only for Opera Mobile. But the protocols this runs on are open source, so there is nothing stopping the creators of other browsers from adding in Opera Dragonfly support.”

Some of the items on 2012’s list include a few that never came to pass in 2011, along with some new wishes including better offline caching, WebGL everywhere, HTML5 audio quality and better mobile browser debugging/
