Google has confirmed that its Google Global Cache (GCC) service is now operational in Cuba. That makes Google the first foreign Internet service provider (ISP) to host Internet content in the Communist country.
Reports indicate that less than 5 percent of the Cuban population has access to the Internet. GCC will not expand the availability of Web access on the island. It will, however, speed up content delivery, particularly for heavily watched YouTube videos.
