PhoneGap Build Beta, Mobile Application Builder, Released by Nitobi

By HTMLGoodies Staff

The folks at Nitobi, who brought developers the PhoneGap mobile application development framework, this week announced the release of the beta version of its PhoneGap Build. This release allows developers to create mobile apps for multiple platforms such as Google Android, Palm, Symbian, BlackBerry and others.

PhoneGap Build, much like the PhoneGap framework, enables developers to build mobile apps for multiple platforms, but PhoneGap Build does it using Cloud services. By using the new service, developers can create apps using standard web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, and PhoneGap Build transforms then into apps that work on most mobile devices.

Andre Charland, CEO of Nitobi, spoke about the process, announcing that "With PhoneGap Build developers can write HTML, JavaScript and CSS, compile it in our cloud and run it natively on any mobile platform. It's a continuation of our work with PhoneGap and demonstrates our dedication to providing Web developers with a way to build mobile apps using open standards and technologies they already know and love."
