Adobe Illustrator to Support HTML 5

Sep 14, 2010

Strengthening industry support for HTML 5, Adobe today announced that is Illustrator CS5 HTML5 Pack, a set of plug-ins for its core drawing software, will include preliminary support for HTML5 and CSS3, and will continue with its support for the SVG format.

Given that Apple and Google have both expressed support for HTML 5 within their own products, Adobe’s announcement signals broader support for HTML 5 within the industry, and provides additional support even for those who develop for iOS platforms.

Although Adobe was pleased to hear that licensing restrictions for App Store developers were removed last week, the company is still fully behind HTML 5–its own Dreamweaver Web authoring application has support for HTML 5, with more to come in the near future.
