Opera Has More HTML5 Under Its Hood

Opera 10.6 was recently released, and web developers were happy to note that it includes Google’s new WebM video format and AppCache, which speeds up access to web pages. New support for HTML5 features was provided by the browser, which is available for download in beta.

While there is still a lot of hype for HTML5, the emerging standard does promise to change the way the web is used and created. The largest implications are for web applications, which will rely heavily on these upcoming development technologies.

In addition to the new HTML5 features, Opera 10.6 includes the Geolocation API, which is being developed by the W3C to provide relevant, local search results, and Web Workers, developed by the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG) to let the browser handle processor intensive tasks.
