Stats have shown that use of Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 (IE 6) web browser has dropped below five percent for the first time. Web developers are happy to see the decline, announcing that it can't happen quick enough.

Web analytics company StatCounter stated that in the month of May, IE 6's browser share went down to 4.7 percent. The company's research department, StatCounter Global Stats indicated that IE 6 usage was at 11.5 percent just a year ago.
