Flash Developer to Apple: Flash Will Survive HTML 5

May 12, 2010

One developer of both Flash-based web games as well as iPhone apps says that no matter what Apple tells us, Flash isn’t going anywhere. The segment of users that access the web via mobile devices is still small compared to desktop and laptop web users, and Apple’s refusal to embrace Flash isn’t likely to impact the use of Flash for web-based applications.

Web developers are definitely working on creating adaptive websites that work on mobile devices as well as desktops, however the small percentage of iPhone users, which is approximately 1% of all web users according to StatCounter.com, doesn’t provide enough of a reason for developers to redevelop a website.

While there are huge success stories to be told from game application developers via Apple’s App Store, hundreds of millions of people are playing games and spending money on them on Facebook daily, and the majority of those apps are Flash-based.
