Mobile Web Developers Prefer Google Cloud APIs

The latest research from Ovum’s developer survey indicates that mobile web application developers prefer to use Google’s server-side APIs to the developer’s own services. The report showed that 60 percent of mobile developers are either using, or plan to use Google’s APIs when building applications.

The top requirements listed by developers who were selecting partners for application development included ease of development, breadth of platform functionality, the quality of Software Development Kits (SDKs), and the flexibility and innovation shown by the partner.

Most developers are aware of Google and Apple’s developer outreach efforts, while other mobile operators not even showing up on the grid of awareness. APIs continue to drive the adoption of cloud services–without them, there isn’t much that developers are interested in with regards to cloud services.
