Apple Reduces App Store Affiliate Commissions to 2.5%

In a move that could reverberate throughout the Web, Apple has cut the commissions it pays through its App Store affiliate program from 7 percent to 2.5 percent.
One of the ways that many websites generate income is through affiliate programs. Through these programs, companies pay website owners commissions on sales made after a customer links from an affiliate site to the company's site. The Apple App Store had a fairly popular affiliate program, and this change will be significant to small websites that rely on the affiliate program for income. It will also be interesting to see if other affiliate programs follow suit.
