With Cheap Hosting, You Get Exactly That

Oct 26, 2010

If you’re in the market for a new host for your blog or website, be careful that you don’t blindly pay for the first cheap host you find. Although there are plenty of very economical hosts out there, often you get poor support along with the cheap price.

You will also find free blog hosting services, but they usually have severe limitations on the use of more advanced features. Your best bet is to find a host where you can install a content management system (CMS) such as Joomla, Drupal or WordPress.

To start with, keep an eye out for two items: storage and bandwidth. That will tell you how large your site can be, and have many visitors you can have without going over your limit. Even those with unlimited storage and bandwidth can be costly, with limitations on server processing power. If your site takes too much processing power, the host may charge you more money, or stop hosting your site. Be sure to read the fine print!
