One of the difficulties that arise through the use of cascading style sheets (CSS) is that unlike other web standards such as HTML, CSS can get too complicated for most people to follow, very quickly. A new technology called Knyle Style Sheets (KSS) was designed to solve that problem now, so it doesn’t become worse in the future.
The Knyle Style Sheets documentation specification was created with the sole purpose of enabling developers to create CSS that includes a living styleguide of sorts that will make them easy to follow, no matter how advanced they may become in the future.
The Director of Design at GitHub, Kyle Neath, is behind the concept of KSS, and as he tells it, “Inspired by TomDoc, KSS attempts to provide a methodology for writing maintainable, documented CSS within a team. Specifically, KSS is a documentation specification and styleguide format. It is not a preprocessor, CSS framework, naming convention, or specificity guideline. This means it works great with ideas like OOCSS, SMACSS, SASS, and LESS.”
