MSIE 9 Details to Emerge in March

Microsoft has been mum about version 9 of its Internet Explorer so far, posting a note recently that they will provide an update on the browser in March. Windows President Steven Sinofsky stated that Microsoft is focusing on standards compliance in this upcoming release.

The MSIE team has been working to improve IE 9’s test results using the W3C’s CSS 3 recommendation and show improved performance on the Acid3 test in a demo in November. Initially the upcoming browser scored 32/100 on the test in its overall pixel rendering capabilities.

Microsoft recently joined the W3C’s Scalable Vector Graphics Working Group, and was asked to lead the Testing Task Force for the W3C’s HTML5 Working Group, though they have been critical about the tests used to identify browser compliance.
