As promised last June, Microsoft has released a Website testing tool called Sonar under an open source license. Developed by the team that works on the Edge browser, Sonar can find interoperability, performance, security and progressive web app-related issues. It also suggests possible solutions for the problems.
According to Microsoft’s Anton Molleda, “Sonar brings many improvements compared to previous scanners: execution of website code instead of static analysis, a more flexible and modernized set of rules, parallel test execution, integration with other services, a completely open source code base from day one, and more.”
Microsoft plans to offers a Sonar plug-in for Visual Studio in the future.
