Galvanize Coding School Lays Off 11% of Staff

Galvanize, a for-profit coding bootcamp whose flagship product is an immersive Web development program, has announced that it is laying off 11 percent of its staff. Because the company has around 350 employees, that means 37 people will be out of a job. The company had raised $63 million in venture funding.

“In order to adjust to evolving market demands we made the difficult decision to reduce our workforce today,” the company said. “These actions are consistent with our overall strategy to build a more product-focused platform that enables a continuous learning environment.”

Two other well-known coding bootcamps — Dev Bootcamp and Iron Yard — recently went out of business.

Galvanize’s Web development course lasts 24 weeks and costs $21,000. It has operations at eight locations across the country.
