Do Most Mobile Devices Actually Support HTML5?

With all the talk about HTML5, one would assume that every mobile device on the market must support it. The reality is that although the industry is pushing for its acceptance, most mobile devices still don’t offer much in the way of support for the emerging standard.

Also included in the discussion is the fact that many in the industry use the term “HTML5” when they are actually refering to a set of technologies which includes HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. Support for each of these technologies on mobile devices is as far away from unified as can be.  

In a study by Netbiscuits, thousands of different devices that accessed mobile web data on its servers were analyzed to see how many HTML5 features were supported. Unfortunately, they found that there weren’t that many devices with HTML5 support at all.
