BlueGriffon, an open source, WYSIWG (What You See Is What You Get) editor for Linux, Mac and Windows platforms, was announced today. The web-based tool is powered by Gecko, and can be accessed if you are using the Firefox 4 web browser and supports HTML5, CSS3, SVG and other web standards.
BuleGriffon’s CSS support allows professional developers and novices alike to create advanced, professional websites. Daniel Glazman, CEO of Disruptive Innovations SAS, spoke about the release, stating that “The Authoring community needed a cross-platform Open Source content editor for the Web matching the modernity, speed and power of the most recent Web browsers, an easily extensible editor allowing efficient Web designs. That editor is BlueGriffon.”
With support for so many technologies built right into the editor, and an easy-to-use interface, developers are able to create and edit web pages from a familiar mechanism–the web browser.
