Angular 4 Slims Down Its JavaScript

Google has released Angular 4, the latest update for the popular JavaScript framework. The new version should help developers write smaller, faster applications. “We’ve made changes under to hood to what AOT-generated (ahead of time) code looks like,” explained Stephen Fluin, a Google developer advocate for Angular. “These changes should reduce the size of the generated code for your components by more than half in some cases.”

Other improvements include putting animations into their own package, bringing Angular Universal up-to-date with the regular version of Angular, and fixing some bugs.

The most recent version of Angular was Angular 2; there was no Angular 3. Angular 5 is slated for release in the fall.
