Free License to Adobe’s .folio File Format Specification Now Available. The following developments enable commercial publishers, enterprises and higher education institutions to use apps to drive increased brand engagement, sales conversion and loyalty in context of mobile-first marketing campaigns:
- Native Content Viewers: DPS customers can now deliver interactive reading experiences consistently across leading Apple, Android and Windows tablets and phones by publishing native content viewers that offer the same highly engaging reading experience regardless of the device on which the content is consumed. With the recent integration with Adobe Experience Manager, experiences can be created and delivered using one set of assets.
- Secure Content: DPS now enables encryption of .folio files, protecting information as it is delivered from Adobe secure servers into DPS apps on Apple tablets and smartphones. This is critical for organizations that adhere to strict legal or privacy guidelines and policies.
- Information Screen: A new information screen allows DPS customers to present special offers, cross sell related content or display critical information specific to the application at any point in the reading experience ensuring that audiences are more likely to engage with marketing efforts.
- Streamlined Text and Push Notifications: Newly enhanced text notifications ensure that publishers can more efficiently deliver push notifications to remind and promote content already available within a reader’s library. Coupled with expanded measurement capabilities, DPS customers will have a more thorough understanding of how their push notifications are performing in order to maximize impact on audiences.
In addition to the new feature updates, the technical specification for the .folio format is now available under a free license; further accelerating digital publication adoption and enabling newsstands to produce their own viewing apps capable of displaying digital content built using DPS.
“As the leading digital publishing solutions provider, we aim to help our customers realize ROI and create stronger connections with their audiences,” said Nick Bogaty, Head of Digital Publishing, Adobe. “The latest update to DPS offers valuable new capabilities, and the availability of the .folio format specification will enable DPS customers to make their digital content more widely available across numerous marketplaces.”
