Joomla started off seven years ago as an idea of the good folks who developed Mambo, another great open source suite for developing websites had somewhat of a fall-out amongst themselves. So much so that the team, like any good rock-band, split-up over a disagreement about control of the project. And so Joomla was born. Free and open-source, this content management system did not quickly take-off, but after a few years of refining and proving, Joomla found a home somewhere between WordPress and Drupal and now claims, unofficially, almost 3% of the enterprise web development.
