Google Mistake Results in Web Outage in Japan
Application Security Testing: An Integral Part of DevOps
Around noon last Friday, Google made a mistake related to Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). After the mistake promulgated through networks, nearly half the Internet users in Japan were unable to connect to the Web. Others experienced slower-than-normal browsing speeds. “We set wrong information for the network and, as a result, problems occurred. We modified the information to the correct one within eight minutes,” said a Google spokesperson. “We apologize for causing inconvenience and anxieties.”
Despite Google quickly correcting its mistake, the partial outage lasted for several hours and affected several Japanese banks and the East Japan Railway company.
