Firefox Quantum Boasts 2X Speed Improvements

Sep 27, 2017

Mozilla says that the latest version of its open source Firefox browser is twice as fast as its predecessors. Currently a beta release, Firefox Quantum has a new Rust-based CSS engine that can take advantage of multicore processors. In addition, it has a new method for prioritizing tabs that Mozilla says is faster and 30 percent more memory-efficient than Chrome. The update performed more than twice as well as Firefox 52 on a popular benchmark test.

Linux, MacOS, Windows, Android, and iOS downloads of the beta version of Firefox Quantum are available from the Firefox website, and Mozilla is also offering a Developer Edition for Web devs who want to see how the new browser will render their sites.
