Box.net Announces HTML5-based Mobile App

Initially, Box.net provided its users with a native mobile application for the iPhone and iPad. Now they are providing an HTML5-based version of their app that will work on any mobile browser that supports HTML5.

The new HTML5 app includes search functionality–something the Box.net native app lacks. As Aaron Levie, CEO of Box.net put it, “You’ll typically see us leapfrogging our own apps as we can develop in one platform or another, so this time there is some enhanced functionality with the HTML5 mobile web app.”

In addition to the new HTML5-based app, Box.net also released a new Android Honeycomb tablet app with scaling functionality as well as a new app for RIM’s BlackBerry Playbook.
