Amazon Web Services Aims To Simplify Application Development

Amazon today announced that its Web Services (AWS) has launched a new free service called Elastic Beanstalk. The services' goal is to help developers deploy and manage apps that reside on the AWS cloud.

Werner Vogels, CTO of Amazon, recognizes that some AWS customers still need a more simple way to use the service. "Developers have continuously asked us to create similar platforms to simplify development on AWS."

He believes that there are different approaches to development, and AWS Elastic Beanstalk allows developers to use the service as an application container which forms the basis of many development platforms.
