Google Chrome Store Open for Developers

Google today opened its Chrome Web Store to developers, enabling them to start uploading web applications and extensions for the Chrome browser and upcoming Chrome OS. The Chrome Operating System will launch this fall, and with the opening of the Chrome Store, the writing is on the wall for the Chrome OS.

In a company blog, Google made the announcement, stating that "Developers can now start uploading apps and experiment with packaging them, installing them in Chrome...and integrating our payments and user authentication infrastructure."

During the developer preview period, developers will be able to upload apps, but they will only be visible to themselves. To get started, visit the Chrome Web Store page, and be sure to watch their introductory video, shown here:
