HTML5 Web Development Tools Released by SproutCore

By HTMLGoodies Staff

SproutCore this week released an update to its open source framework with new HTML5 features. This release includes a new interface builder, rich support for multitouch and a packaging system for JavaScript code sharing.

Frameworks such as the SproutCore JavaScript tools are used to create rich internet applications based on web standards--no plugins needed. Apple invested in SproutCore to create its MobileMe apps, which work using web browsers and communicate with Apple's backend servers to interact with mail, calendar, contacts, photo galleries and other iPhone and MobileMe features.

By using HTML5, the framework enables developers to utilize touch, drag, and pinch to resize features for Safari, Chrome and Firefox, with work continuing on Internet Explorer bugs.
