Enhanced Java and Web Development Tools Announced by RIM

Apr 7, 2010

Today Research In Motion (RIM) announced the release of its updated Java and Web-based development tools for the BlackBerry platform. The BlackBerry Java Plug-In for Eclipse v1.1 and BlackBerry Web Plug-in v2.0 provide new features which enable developers to create feature-rich applications.

The Widget Software Development Kit (SDK) and Java SDK for the BlackBerry provide developers with access to BlackBerry’s hardware features, native apps and other features unique to the BlackBerry platform.

By using these tool, RIM has given developers the tools they need to build web-based BlackBerry widgets and Java apps which take advantage of the BlackBerry Application Platform. These features enable applications to share data across core BlackBerry applications and third party apps.
