Drupal 7 Content Management System Beta Coming Soon

By HTMLGoodies Staff

The Drupal Project is working hard to release the long awaited beta version of its Drupal content management system. The Project will announce the Release Candidate of the software once the number of critical issues is down from the current number, 141, to zero.

Project founder Dries Buytaert recently spoke about the upcoming release, stating that the beta path still has some work to be done. "Drupal 7 will enter the beta phase when the upgrade path from Drupal 6 to 7 works. At the time of this writing there are 13 critical issues preventing this advancement."

Buytaert said that they are adding a new severity level to the project's ticketing system, to be positioned between "critical" and "normal". "Major bugs would be really bad, but not necessarily block a release. For example, bugs that don't prevent Drupal from working, or that only affect a fraction of the Drupal population would be prioritized for fixing in follow-up releases." He considers critical bugs to be those that break the Drupal CMS, and those that are a major regression in comparison to Drupal 6.
