World Wide Web Consortium Releases Mobile Development Best Practices Report

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) this week made some recommendations concerning mobile development, including understanding a mobile device’s limitations, and optimization of response time, among other key factors in its “Mobile Web Application Best Practices” report.

The report, which is available for viewing here, has been in development since 2008, and was finally published this month. François Daoust, mobile Web specialist at the W3C, said the report was published because [mobile development] is not really the future anymore; it’s today.”

The purpose behind the document is simply to provide those who are getting into mobile development with some guidelines about where to start, and what is important. As well as developers, the document targets graphic designers, site admins and tool developers.
