The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) this week released a set of guidelines for mobile app developers to have in mind while creating Web-standards based mobile apps. They also released a set of easy-to-print virtual cards which summarize their suggestions for mobile etiquette.
Their suggestions include minimizing network traffic, keeping users in mind, optimizing app response times, keeping their apps flexible, and recommends the use of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and other web standards for app development.
The 3C’s Mobile Web Best Practices (MWBP) Working Group endorsed the suggestions, which were also edited by engineers from AT&T and Google. Participants from AT&T, Boeing, the China Electronics Standardization Institute, Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, Google, Hewlett-Packard, Nokia and Vodafone were among the members of the Working Group.
