Developers have been longing for HTML5 development tools, and today Sencha launched SensaTouch, a Javascript application development platform that utilizes the emerging standard to develop native mobile applications that run on multiple platforms.
Many mobile providers, such as Apple, prefer that developers create applications that are created specifically for their platforms, however Sencha believes that by leveraging the features of HTML5, developers will be able to create applications that run natively on any HTML5-compliant platform.
MSIE has yet to fully embrace HTML5, but the upcoming IE9 will support many of its features. Even without the full support of desktop users, HTML5 will likely become the standard for creating next-generation mobile apps.
