Google Announces Early Preview of Dart, a “Better JavaScript”

Oct 11, 2011

This week Google announced the release of the “early preview” of its Dart programming language. Dart has been publicized as a language which has all the advantages of JavaScript, without the limitations of the scripting language.

As Lars Bak, Google programmer and project lead, stated in a blog post, Dart can be used for small projects as well as more complicated applications. As he put it, “If we want to focus on making the Web better over time, we have to innovate,” and that’s just what Dart was designed to do.

Also announced was a Dart programming language website with open source tools that support the use of Dart for the creation of apps, along with code samples and tutorials, libraries of software which support Dart, and the Dart specification itself. Discussion forums for Dart programmers are also available for those who are interested in learning more about the language and talking with other Dart programmers.
