Adobe’s Vision for Contextual Mobile Application Development Using Flex

May 18, 2010

In this whitepaper, Adobe details what it refers to as “contextual applications” after recognizing the importance of adapting applications to fit with the context in which they run. These applications leverage the trends in cloud-based computing, social networking, and the increased use of internet-connected devices.

With the explosion of methods for users to access content and applications, developers, designers and content providers have faced a new challenge. The goal is to create and maintain one or more versions of content or applications that will function within different environments.

Adobe initiated the Open Screen Project (OSP) to help developers face this challenge. Part of their solution is to extend the Flex framework and tooling to allow the development of these contextual applications. This whitepaper details the use of Flex to facilitate these goals.
