WordPress.com Now Open to Third-Party Plugins and Themes

Aug 8, 2017

WordPress.com, one of the most popular blog and website hosting services, has announced that it will begin allowing business-tier accounts to use third-party themes and plug-ins. The WordPress software has a library of thousands of these third-party add-ons that are very popular with users. However, until now, WordPress users were not able to use them if they hosted their sites with WordPress.com.

Some experts caution that these third-party plugins and themes could make websites more vulnerable to attack.

The WordPress.com business plan costs $21 per month.
