A recent survey from Water & Stone shows that nothing has changed since 2010, as the top three open source content management systems (CMS) are still WordPress, Joomla and Drupal. Currently, WordPress is still outpacing Joomla and Drupal, which came out on top of the 35 systems that were included in the survey.
The primary focus of Water & Stone’s survey was the adoption rate of the CMS–which was determined by looking at installations, downloads and the support of third-party software–and the strength of the CMS’ brand among developers. WordPress was downloaded over 640,000 times a week in 2011, which is actually 34 percent lower than the previous year.
