A growing chorus of voices, including many at Mozilla and Google, are touting progressive Web apps as an alternative to native mobile apps. Addy Osmani, an engineering manager on Google’s Chrome team, said, “We’re starting to see a lot of large companies come back to the web because of its low friction.” He pointed to Twitter’s and Lyft’s progressive Web apps as examples.
Tools for building progressive Web apps include Lighthouse, Preact, React, Angular, Vue.js and many other JavaScript tools.
