While the native vs. JavaScript app battle continues to heat up, many developers are pushing the belief that only Native code and C++ will do the job. Others are sure that the recent increases in JavaScript speed will push the scripting language to just where it is needed–and the debate will be over.
One person who would know if JavaScript is fast enough to make the cut would be Joel Webber, as he has performed many comparisons of JavaScript using various engines along with Java and native code, all in various environments. The tests that Joel conducted showed that native code runs at 5ms, the JVM code runs at around 10ms, and the JavaScript runs at around 100ms–leaving JavaScript in last place, and the debate still raging.
