Mobile Developers Have Got The Edge

Dec 29, 2010

At the end of 2010, it’s a great time to be a mobile app developer. Even CNN ran an article about the shortage of mobile apps in both the large online storefronts and smaller up and coming web app stores. That’s great for mobile developers.

With over 61 million smartphones on the market, the mobile app marketplace is booming, and its growth will continue to spur the development community. A recent acquisition by WebTrends of Transpond, a company which provides an application development tool for iPhone, Android and Facebook apps, occurred in October–partly due to the current shortage of Facebook developers.

According to a survey conducted by the employment company Dice, the mobile app market is in the middle of a growing spurt–said to grow from $4.1 billion in 2009 to $17.5 billion in 2014.
