This week Microsoft introduced LightSwitch, the latest addition to its Visual Studio family of web development tools. LightSwitch utilizes .Net as its base, and is geared towards small and big businesses.
The tool is said to organize repetitive tasks for web developers. A demo of the product showed how it enables developers to merge their code together in a web application using the cloud-based SQL Azure database, a remote SharePoint list and local database.
A beta version of Visual Studio LightSwitch will be available for download on August 23 from the MSDN website. Developers of any skill level can still use the tool to create applications for the web browser, desktop or cloud platform.
