Facebook Releases Yarn 1.0

Sep 11, 2017

Facebook has released the 1.0 version of Yarn, its open source JavaScript package management client. Many JavaScript developers use Node Package Manager (npm) to manage the code libraries that they use for creating Web applications, but Yarn offers an alternative that is said to be faster and more reliable. According to Yarn developers, it can make JavaScript package install times up to five times faster.

Even before its 1.0 release, Yarn had developed quite a large user base. Facebook said that 175,000 GitHub projects use Yarn and the tool manages more than 3 billion package downloads per month.
