There has recently been a discussion on Techie Buzz about a WordPress plugin named “BlogPress SEO”. It promises SEO linkbacks with no work, which is usually an alarm ringer for promising something for nothing, which isn’t usually the case.
According to the folks at Yoast and Mtekk, the WordPress plugin does have some features…in fact, it has features that you don’t want, including back doors that allow WordPress authors to bypass the login screen, and get into the admin area of your blog.
Matt Cutts, head of the web spam team at Google, even put out a warning via Twitter. Thus far the plug-in isn’t listed in the WP plugins repository, which shows that the WordPress folks are on the ball.
