Cloud-based goMobi Service Enables Web Developers to Go Mobile

By HTMLGoodies Staff

Many businesses and web developers would like to engage mobile users, but their website is not mobile-capable. dotMobi’s this week introduced its new goMobi service, which lets businesses reach mobile customers by recognizing the capabilities of each mobile phone and displaying the site’s content so that it looks its best on that specific device.

The goMobi product/service includes a suite of tools which enables developers to "control the automated transformation of traditional desktop website content to mobile-friendly content." Developers have access to HTML metatags, along with a mobile/desktop switcher and advanced device detection functionality.

dotMobi is marketing goMobi along with domain name and hosting services, making it a one-stop mobile solution. The CEO of name.com, Bill Mushkin, believes the service will catch on, stating that "Given the ease and speed that anyone--from tech amateur to design professional--can now build and deploy a mobile website with goMobi, I’m positive that the current boom in mobile Web use will grow tenfold in a short time. Our wildly successful beta of goMobi is strong proof of that."
